One of the biggest downfalls when setting goals is setting goals that are too big and/or cannot be measured. In order to set attainable goals, you need to set SMART goals.
{S} Set SPECIFIC Goals: A specific goal is more attainable than a generic goal.
- Bad: "I will lose weight."
- Good: "I will lose five pounds in four weeks."
- Bad: "I will gain followers/subscribers on my blog."
- Good: "I will gain fifteen followers/subscribers on my blog this month."
- Bad: "I will lose fifteen pounds by Friday."
- Good: "I will lose five pounds this month."
- Bad: "I will train from couch-potato to marathon-ready in one month."
- Good: "I will train from couch-potato to 5K-ready in one month."
- Bad: "I will run a marathon someday."
- Good: "I will be in shape to run a 5K on February 1st."
What SMART goals are you working on this month?

Ahh...yes...I think that's what I was trying to remember yesterday! Lol! I got the first two right. ;-) Is it bad that I have some additional monthly goals floating around in my head??? They're more short term though, like getting our bedroom set up and decorated etc. by the end of the month. Just something about the end of the year that makes me overly ambitious. Lol!
This is great advice. Thanks, Ashley!
Yes! So hard not to set unrealistic goals!
Having issues with sentence formation today! LOL Anyway, it's difficult not to set unrealistic goals.
I have more goals in my head than I do on paper. In fact, one of the goals I was thinking about using for the #3in30 Challenge during January, I actually managed to complete already this week. It was a good "warm-up" and springboard for my goals this month!
I hope that you find it helpful as you seek to realize any goals you may have. We'd love to have you join the #3in30 Challenge starting on Saturday!
I think there must be something in the air... I'm struggling to type today! :-D
And yes, I agree. I often have "lofty" goals, but I find that only when I break them down into manageable pieces am I able to be successful.
