Encouragement to this Mommy's Heart
Jenny is my three-and-a-half year old, and today, we had a short conversation that just encouraged my heart.
"Mommy, can I have a question?"
"Sure. What's your question?"
"I told you after Caillou it is lunch time!"
"That's not a question."
"Oh. Is that a demand?"
"Yes."
"And I'm not supposed to demand, am I?"
"Nope."
"Okay."
She's getting it! She's really getting it! We've been working hard with her to teach her to talk more kindly, asking for things, rather than demanding them. (Mommy needs to work on this too - I have a feeling I know where she picked up the bad habit.)
It was so great and so encouraging to hear her acknowledge the difference without any prompting from me!
How have you found encouragement in the "little things" this week?

Don't you love it when your little ones actually grasp something you've taught them? I especially appreciate it when it comes well after the lesson's been taught, like how your daughter figured out the difference between a question and a demand separate from when you probably explained the difference to her. Love it! ;-)
I love this!!! In our family, when we do something to hurt another, we not only say, "I'm sorry" - but we ask that family member if they will please forgive us.
However, my 3 year old can't say "forgive" - all he says is "give". So he will say, "Mommy, I'm sorry... do you please give me?"
It's so cute and makes me smile - and yet reminds me that we need to actually give our love and grace to everyone we meet.
What a great post! Hope you've had a wonderful iFellowship Day!
