Making our HOUSE a HOME!

While much of my house is still a blank canvas, waiting to have personality added, I have started decorating some areas, and I thought I'd share some of the personal touches we've added to our new house.

When you first enter the house, these beautiful plaques greet you:

Once inside, you are "welcome" to hang your coat in the closet and make yourself at home.

If you continue down the hallway, you'll see this beautiful print from Red Letter Words:

In the living room, you can see pictures of our family and friends around the piano:

The guest bath downstairs provides a relaxing atmosphere to refresh yourself:

Upstairs, the kids' bathroom is full of fun:

And we wouldn't want to forget one of the staple ingredients to making our home OUR home - showing our support of the Michigan Wolverines. We bleed BLUE!! (We still need to hang the flag and pennant in the office.)

What do you think? Think it's starting to look more like a home than a house?

Love all the decorations, esp. the little birdy "shine your light" plaque.

What a lovely home.
I'm impressed that you've already hung pictures!
We have a picture hanging phobia. Maybe because we painted and are terrified of having a hole we have to patch and paint. Or maybe because even after living here 3 years we haven't completely decided where we want our furniture. Or maybe we're just lazy.

Thanks! I usually struggle to get things on the walls too, but I told myself I wasn't going to delay it this time... I was hanging things as the guests starting arriving on Saturday morning! :)

Thanks! The candle was actually a gift from one of our neighbors that came to our open house... it just fit perfectly with the decor!

Hooray for another BLUE family!! :-D Our flag will probably don the office wall soon, or maybe the garage... not sure yet, but it is definitely a "must have" wall decor!

I'm so not a decorator (mainly because I don't like to clean, and decor adds to the amount of stuff I have to clean), but I do love the look of a decorated home!
