Unplugging for five days...

I was unplugged from Thursday afternoon til around 8:30pm last night. It was great to be able to step away from technology for the weekend and enjoy spending quality time with my family. However, coming back "online" after a few days away is always slightly overwhelming:
  1. I came back to an inbox full of emails, most of which required a response of some sort. (I managed to take care of most of them last night, but that used up my remaining brain power, so I stopped after emails.)
  2. I actually won two giveaways while I was gone, from The Tuckers Take Tennessee and Life as Mom! (Nothing like finding prizes waiting for you after a great time away!)
  3. I was the featured friend on Seeds of Faith for Women last week, so I had a bunch of "@" tweets about me floating around on Twitter. (The gals at Seed of Faith are so sweet - be sure to check them out!!)
  4. I missed #FF on Twitter - I was mentioned in a number of #FF tweets! (Thanks for all the #FF love!!)
  5. I realized that my blog posts weren't feeding to Twitter like they should have been over the weekend, so I had to trouble-shoot that this morning. (It was an issue of FeedBurner changes I'd made.)
  6. I didn't have the post for today written yet, so I'm writing it spur-of-the-moment. (I was going to post about my top 10 favorite online Bible study resources - I'll have to save that topic for a future Top 10 Tuesday post.)
  7. I haven't really started doing any of my school work for this week, so I have a lot of "serious" writing to do for my writing class. (I decided to postpone my class participation til today, as my brain was too tired to crank out quality writing last night.)
  8. My husband is off all week, and we have a LOT of packing to get started, as our anticipated move date is only 3.5 weeks away! (We're scheduled to close on the 30th, if everything stays on track.)
  9. I've got at least three more loads of laundry to get done from this weekend. (Something about camping creates more laundry in 5 days than we create in a week at home! Thankfully, my awesome husband is working on this for me.)
  10. I need to get back into my Maximize Your Mornings routine, getting back into the Word daily and exercising. (Always a transition after being gone.)
What "weekend recovery" do you have facing you this week? Did you get a chance to "unplug" at all this past weekend?

So glad that you were able to enjoy some family time this weekend! Three day
weekends are the "norm" around here (my husband works four ten hour days),
so having an extended weekend and a weekend away without technology was an
added blessing for us.

Hope you have a GREAT week!

Glad you had a great weekend camping! We enjoyed our time at Barakel, but it
was definitely not "relaxing" with the kiddos along. If life weren't so busy
right now, we'd be up there for Couples' Retreat this month, but we'll have
to wait til February again - enjoy your time kid-free!

My husband is self-employed and works all holidays except for Thanksgiving and Christmas. In addtion, since the economy tanked, he's working seven days a week. So this was just another weekend for us, except that I am in the process of moving our 26-year old daughter out of the house, which, for me, is a sad occasion. I've been home-schooling my kids for 20 years (and counting) and I have no desire to get my kids out of the house like so many parents of this day seem to.

But she has a full-time job now that requires a 40-minute drive each way (at least!) and it is just too much of a burden for her to keep making that drive. Some friends of ours are renting a 3-bedroom house to her and we found, as we began emptying the attic of her belongings that she's been storing up there for years - that she actually has enough "stuff" to fill that house!

But back to YOUR tale - I can totally relate to the catching up that comes with taking a few days off. I took a vacation in early August (by myself) and when I came back had hundreds of unread e-mails; tons of laundry; and the traffic on my blog had just DIED. But got back in the swing pretty quick, fortunately.

As far as your move: you have my sympathy! We have been in the house we built for 13 years now, but before that we moved 5 times in 13 years. And we're NOT a military family!

Good luck and God bless!

Wow - seven days a week w/o time off for holidays - that's a LOT of working!
I'm sorry you didn't get to enjoy a long weekend.

I can also understand your sadness about your daughter moving out. Being 2.5
hours away from family, I miss having the blessing of family close by.
Family is one of God's blessings that we too often take for granted,
especially in our culture today.

This will be our fifth move since we've gotten married (five years ago), and
we are definitely ready to be "settled" in a place of our own. (And, no.
We're not a military family either.) The one nice thing about moving this
often, though, is that you don't have too much time to accumulate too much
stuff between moves - keeps your earthly possessions at a much more
manageable number! :)

Thanks for stopping by today and sharing part of your life with me. I love
learning more about my readers, and I enjoy knowing how I might better pray
for you!

I love the coffee theme of your blog! =) AND that you unplugged--so good to unplug!

Thanks! I hope the blog welcomes you to grab a cup of coffee and read a bit.
I like to think of my blog as my living room - come on in and make yourself
at home. :)

And yes, unplugging is so good... just hard to come back sometimes! :)

Ugh, I hear you. I'm semi unplugged right now---at a hotel--and the my inbox is strangling me. But it's nice to be unplugged, too! Glad you're back!

Enjoy your time away! It's nice to be unplugged, but hard when you know what
you're coming back to.
