It's a Disciple's Cross Giveaway!

I am so excited about today's Disciple's Cross giveaway!

What is a Disciple's Cross?
The Disciple's Cross is made up of three distinct components. The simulated leather cord reminds us of the leather straps used to beat our Savior; the wrapped wire stands for the thorn branches twisted into a crown to mock the King of Kings; and the nails represent the large spikes that were driven into the hands and feet of the Lord of Lords. As you carry your Disciple's Cross with you, consider the sacrifice that Jesus made for you and take up your cross and follow Him.

A bit of history:
I started making Disciple's Cross necklaces in 2007, with the intention at the time of being able to stay home full-time with my daughter from the income, however, I soon discovered I didn't want to make 400 crosses a week in order to participate in the buyback program that was offered. So, I started making the crosses "for fun" and tried to sell them myself. Selling them to my co-workers, to a couple of Christian camps (for their general stores), and through a craft sale, I was able to make a small profit while not having the crosses be the focus of my life. After a year or so, life got busy (we added another small child to our family), so I let the crosses go for awhile. I sold a few here and there, but didn't have a constant source to sell and promote them.

(Prize color may vary.)
Presently:
A month or so ago, I decided to get my supplies back out and make a few crosses, using the blog-o-sphere to market and sell them. I'm excited to have them being sold in a number of Open Sky stores:

The Giveaway:
I will be giving away two Disciple's Crosses this week!

  • The second winner will be drawn randomly from any Open Sky orders placed this week.

I'd like to see a black rope, with maybe a brown where the blue color is. It would be for my son.
