"A Hope Undaunted" by Julie Lessman

Hope Undaunted, A: A Novel (Winds of Change)I just discovered a new "favorite" author this weekend. I finally had the chance to sit down and read A Hope Undaunted, and I didn't want to put it down!

Katie O'Connor is a spit-fire girl, with her life mapped out before her. She knows what she wants and she is determined to get it. Her father puts the brakes on her plans as the summer begins, forcing Katie to experience life in a new way. Katie must choose which life she truly wants to live - which life God has in store for her.

From the back cover: The 1920s are drawing to a close, and feisty Katie O'Connor is the epitome of the new woman - smart and sassy with goals for her future that include the perfect husband and a challenging career in law. Her boyfriend Jack fits all of her criteria for a husband - good-looking, well-connected, wealthy, and eating out of her hand. But when she is forced to spend the summer of 1929 with Luke McGee, the bane of her childhood existence, Katie comes face-to-face with a choice. Will she follow her well-laid plans to marry Jack? Or will she fall for the man she swore to despise forever?

My only "dislike" about the book was the few subplots that were thrown in the mix. While they added a bit of color to the story, they weren't crucial to this book's plot. I'm left wondering if they are setting up book two in the series.

I will definitely be looking for more books by Julie Lessman in the very near future!

{P.S. Enter here for a chance to win a Kindle from Julie!}

Thanks to Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group, for providing a copy of this book for review.

Oh, I loved all the subplots! Those were some of my favorite parts. :)

I definitely thought some of them were interesting, but I struggled to see how some of them (mainly added parts about sister's and husbands) added anything to the overall plot. But I still give the book and the author 5 stars! I have a feeling some of those sub-plots will be essential in future books in the series.

I definitely enjoyed it. When I have time to read again (in six months or so), I'll be heading to the library to find more books by Julie Lessman!
