How Sweet It Is, by Alice J. Wisler
Deena is trying to "get over" her cheating fiance and recent accident. She moves to the mountains to a cabin her Grandfather left her in his will. When she arrives, she meets two important guys, eight kids, and finds healing through her new life.
I really enjoyed the story in this book, predictable as it was. However, I did struggle at times with the narration throughout the book. The book is written in first person present tense - even during flashbacks - and at times it sounded more like a journal than a story. (Which, happen to strike me as odd considering the main character in the story - the narrator - hated creative writing!) Other than the issues with the narration, though, I really enjoyed reading the book. Wisler brought out some real issues and helped the reader work through some of those issues in his/her own mind. I truly appreciated the honesty of the characters and their kindness towards others.
