Riding in Cars with Girls - Gilmore Girls, that is...

Usually I come up with my title before I start writing in order to somewhat guide my thoughts, but tonight a title eludes me, so I'll attempt to get my thoughts out in some semblance of order, but since my blog is "random", you might just get random tonight.

I spent a lot of time in the van over the last two days. I rode while Jason drove for 3 hours yesterday on our extra long trip to Brooklyn/Jackson (we "missed" our exit then tried to find a "detour" but left our GPS at home, since we were going to Mom and Dad's and "knew the way", and we ended up backtracking quite a bit), then another 45ish minutes to/from dinner at Outback. I tried out our new DVD players on the way up to MI - Jenny watched Dora in the back and I watched Gilmore Girls in the front. Today, I drove an hour to Battle Creek for a bridal shower (and an hour back to Brooklyn/Jackson). I was really wishing I had a tape recorder or voice dictation machine on the way back from BC - my brain was going a hundred miles a minute and I wanted to get all my thoughts out so I could focus on just driving instead of mulling. Then, I spent another 2.5 hours riding back to Warsaw tonight (more GG and Dora) - plus a few bathroom breaks for Jenny since she insisted on drinking ALL of her juice as soon as we got in the car. I found myself wishing I had some way of blogging while I was riding &/or driving. It seems like my brain tends to run on FULL speed ahead when I can't write and get everything out.

I almost broke down on my mom in the parking lot at the church this afternoon. (Sorry, Mom.) I'm not sure what's the matter with me. Probably a mixture of a lack of sleep (so why am I still up?), overly abundant hormones (I'm blaming this on David and my monthly cycle), and actually having real conversations with people at the shower this morning (versus the usual "surface conversations" I have with anybody who I normally come into contact with). All I know is that I wanted to crawl into a little ball and sleep for a VERY long time. Thankfully, God and I had a nice long talk on the way back to Jxn/Brkln - yeah for good long drives - and by the time I got back to Mom and Dad's, my emotions were in check and I was able to relax (even got a short nap - while watching TV with the family).

Tomorrow is church... kind of up in the air about church right now. We've been thinking about stuff concerning church... can't really say too much on here right now, especially since it's all just thinking right now, but if you want to know and want to way-in, leave a message and I'll email you with my thoughts... or maybe give me a couple of weeks and then I'll have some more structure to my thoughts and I'll use them for a post... let's just say, for now, that we're talking to God a lot right now about church and His will for us concerning church (and a lot of other things in life).

I think I need to go spend some more time talking to God, and then I need to sleep. My kids need "super mom" to come back this week, especially since we're leaving Thursday to go visit my brother and SIL for a week, so I'd better get rested up and prayed up!

Q4U: What are you thinking about lately? Are you talking to God about anything specific this week? What do you do on long car rides? Any good ideas for ways to entertain a 2yo and 8mo on a 12+ hour car ride? (We've got two headed our way the next two Thursday - to DE and from DE.) Any topics you'd like to see me cover with my random thoughts?

Have a GREAT rest of the weekend! Hopefully I'll be back again before we leave Thursday, and possibly some posts while we're gone...
